Connected in three steps

  1. 1

Your dashboard shows the ACS URL, username and password your devices will use.

  2. 2

Set the ACS on your devices

In the device’s TR-069 page, or once in your OLT or provisioning profile for the whole fleet.

  3. 3

    Manage them

Each device appears on its first check-in. Change WiFi, reboot or refresh it from its page.

The same four settings on every device

Huawei and ZTE ONTs, TP-Link and MikroTik routers all take an ACS URL, a username, a password and a check-in interval. FreeACS sets the interval and the wake-up login itself on first contact.

What you can do today

All features →

Devices register themselves

Set one ACS URL, username and password on every device, or push them from your OLT. Each device appears in your list on its first check-in, keyed by serial number.

Change WiFi names and passwords

Pick a radio, type a new name or password, save. FreeACS writes every passphrase path the data model uses, so firmware that honours only one still changes.

Reboot and factory reset

From the device page, with a confirm step before a factory reset.

Commands in seconds, not hours

FreeACS gives each device its own Connection Request login and knocks when you queue a command. Devices it cannot reach collect commands at their next check-in, every 15 minutes.

TR-098 and TR-181

The data model is read from the first Inform, so InternetGatewayDevice and Device trees both work. CWMP 1.0 to 1.4.

HTTPS and plain HTTP

HTTPS for current firmware, plain HTTP for devices whose TLS is too old for a modern certificate. Digest authentication on both, with signed nonces that cannot be replayed.

Questions

What is a TR-069 ACS?

An auto-configuration server (ACS) is the server that TR-069 devices, such as fibre ONTs, home routers and LTE units, call home to. Through it an ISP reads a device’s status and changes its settings remotely, without visiting the customer.

Is FreeACS really free?

Yes, for up to 100 devices, with every feature and no time limit. Paid plans start at $5 a month for 500 devices.

Which devices work with FreeACS?

Any device with a TR-069 (CWMP) client. That includes most fibre ONTs (Huawei, ZTE, Nokia, FiberHome), many ISP routers (TP-Link, MikroTik with the tr069-client package) and LTE and 5G CPEs. FreeACS speaks both TR-098 and TR-181.

Do my devices need a public IP address?

No. Devices connect out to FreeACS. A command runs right away when FreeACS can reach the device for a Connection Request, and otherwise at its next check-in, which FreeACS sets to every 15 minutes.

Should I use the HTTPS or the HTTP ACS URL?

HTTPS whenever the device accepts it. Use the plain HTTP URL for firmware that cannot validate a modern certificate; Digest authentication still protects the password.

How do I move my devices from another ACS?

Change the ACS URL, username and password on your devices, or in your OLT or provisioning profile, to the ones on your FreeACS dashboard. Each device registers itself at its next check-in.

Your first 100 devices are free.
